History of Hydraulics

History of Hydraulics

Hydraulics is a vast industry that can be applied from simple toy water piston to complex machinery and robotics. The term “hydraulics” means the flow of fluid through a pipe. That is, this term is originated from the Greek word “hydraulikos”, where “hydor” means water and “aulos” means pipe. At present, we use hydraulics in different applications for lifting, moving, and holding heavy loads. But, on the basics, all the hydraulic applications uses Pascal’s principle for this.

The French mathematician Blaise Pascal introduced Pascal’s law and it states that the pressure applied on any point in a confined fluid will be transmitted equally and undiminished to all direction.
All the above mentioned are not the history of hydraulics, they are the facts that we know. Considering the history of hydraulics, it begins from using the power of water and now reached different mineral and synthetic oils.
